"The Interview"
Thanks for taking the time and stopping by - "The Interview" is the moment that briefly defines our ambitions and possibly shapes our future. I would like to answer for you the most common questions of the interview. I would like to put aside, for the moment, the blanket requirements and lofty goals of the prospective position and take the next step.
Question 1: Why should you consider
me for this opportunity?
Answer: I bring years of solid, progressive experience - but
I offer the commitment to being better.
I've gained many years of multi-industry exposure - however, the end-product in every capacity that I have served within the Telecommunications Industry, is service - to that end, my commitment is the same - "Providing Excellent Service." Multi- industry exposure has offered expertise across many social styles, business disciplines, and industry-specific mission objectives. The benefit - visualize people, issues, projects and organizations as networks and communities of interest that require communications, support and expertise to accomplish their missions.
Question 2: You seem to have
moved around a bit - what direction are you seeking?
Answer: This is the question that begs yet another question
- "are you interested in the end-product or the story?"
I would like to say it here, now - clearly - make no mistake. I am a professional, my goal is to be all that I can be - it is my belief that I have yet to attain my zenith, however my past experience demonstrates my ability to persevere through very challenging times. While I have been confronted with changing business requirements, downsizing, budget constraints and luck - I have continued to perform in a manner that:
My direction is clear and has never deviated from the following: "Secure meaningful, rewarding employment that fosters the desire to excel. Join an organization or assist a client in a manner where I can enjoy the freedom to contribute to the process and develop personally and professionally."
Question 3: Where do you see
yourself in five years?
Answer: Sometimes I wonder - if I had it my way - I would
be rich, healthy and spiritually content. When asked this question, I would prefer
to be asked the following question - "What is your commitment to success and
are you committed to being better?" The answer to that question is easy - given
the opportunity to contribute and "make a difference" I would clearly chose
to do so. A key motivator in business, whether it's "product or service"
is the aspect of being "better than the next or better off than you were."
At the end of each day I should hope to be better off than the start - that, is a
powerful motivation. As to where do I see myself in five years - lets see where I
fit in your organization - lets see how much latitude there is for growth, contribution,
excellence, fairness and success. Based on that , we can determine where I may be
in five years.
Question 4: If you had to sum
up your most accomplished qualities what would they be?
Answer: Communicating across
many levels - while keeping in perspective the mission, the process and most importantly
the people. Bringing closure to business issues and directives. Streamlining the
process and providing accountability or the mechanisms to accomplish this. Soliciting,
where appropriate, team participation and individuality to accomplish the goal. Taking
the initiative to be the glue in the process that cements sound business practices
while nurturing success personally and professionally.
Question 5: Do you have any questions?
Answer: Many or one - Ask me,
"when would you like to start?" Ask me, "can we work out an arrangement
that satisfies us both?" Ask me, "are you ready to make a difference?"
- then, I will have only one question for you - " When can we begin?"
